The Artist

“Art is the building of bridges between human souls.”

– Auguste Rodin

Indriyan (Yan Indri) was born as Zsolt György in Szatmárnémeti during the Romanian dictatorship in 1971. He lived for a while in Sweden, now he lives and creates in Hungary.

Drawing was already his hobby in primary school, in addition to ship modeling and inventing. At the beginning of the 90s, he made fashion sketches, as he wanted to be a fashion designer, however due to the lack of schooling and knowledge, this failed. He continued drawing and organized an exhibition in a short time in the black hall of the FMK (Young Artists’ Club Budapest HU).

In 1995, he developed how to create graphics with his own fingerprint. After a series of successful exhibitions, his works were placed in numerous galleries and museums in Hungary and Europe.

Early 2000s

In the early 2000s, he created two public sculptures with fellow artist Attilla Kozák (Törökbálint HU, Diósd HU). He participated in the International Budapest Art Expo. After that, in 2004, photography became a tool for rapid self-expression. He takes photos for both film and digital.

For three years he was the photographer of a big theater in Hungary, working with well-known actors and celebrities. He took part in the photography of Dr Alban’s video clip. He worked in film productions, took poster photos and artistic nudes. So far, he has had 14 exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions. His exhibitions were opened by Martin Szipál and András Szebeni, among others.

In 1995, during his group exhibitions, he met artists who made prints using different techniques, for example lino- and woodcut prints. His childhood liking for wood material predestined him to start making woodcuts in his garage, where he set up his studio, which he continuously improves. The influences that affect him inspire him in his work. Due to his diverse experience, he considers himself a visual artist.
